Teaching Philosophy
My classroom will not be
what you typically think of from years past where teachers stood at a chalk board
lecturing their students. In that environment, students will typically be
mindlessly copying down notes and likely not paying attention. In
turn, gaining no knowledge from the lesson and most importantly, not learning
effectively.
You will find my classroom to be very interactive in which learning will be an enjoyable experience making students happy to walk though the door. Project based instruction will be a heavy influence on my classroom where the students learn from one another. Through their own inquiry, they will learn the material. From there, we can go over it together as a class.
I believe that students learn better through an inquiring mind where they do the problem solving to understand the topic. There will be a great deal of inquiry based lesson plans as well as a broad range of teaching methods to meet all the students' needs; whether they are better at audio or hands-on learning. The lessons will be introduced to them via PowerPoint presentation and interactive lectures, usually followed by a lab, hands-on activity, or worksheet.
